As I regularly sketch and paint on the go, I chose to design a freestyle drawing board out of natural materials.
It is made entirely from beech wood, with laminated strips and end-grain battens to prevent warping. A built-in clamping system with thumb screws holds paper up to A3 size. Above it, a milled compartment stores drawing tools. To make the board suitable for outdoor use, I developed it further: a folding lid protects the storage area, now divided into sections for pencils and erasers. Recessed slots in the lid keep tools within easy reach while drawing. A detachable leather cover protects both board and artwork during transport. It can also be used as a seat pad or mounted on the back as a paper pocket. A leather handle and a padded, adjustable shoulder strap allow the board to be carried like a briefcase. My logo is embossed on the strap, leather cover, and a silver-inlaid leather detail inside the lid. Materials used include beech wood, vegetable-tanned, mahogany-dyed leather, and stainless-steel fittings.
A matching leather knife pouch is attached to the strap for outdoor use. To complement the board, I designed a compact folding stool in the same style. A leather seat is stretched over beech dowels set into two frames, forming an X-shape when viewed from the front. The stool folds flat for transport and is double-stitched for durability, with the logo embossed to match the set.
